Elders

Geneva Presbyterian Church, like all other Presbyterian churches, is governed at all levels by a combination of clergy and lay people, men and women alike. Elders are spiritually mature members who model faithfulness in their relationship with Jesus Christ and inspire other believers in faith, conduct and service.

Responsibilities of Elders include:

• Oversight and care of the entire congregation as a member of Session, the governing body of the church.
• Promoting the peace, purity and unity of the church.
• Casting Geneva’s vision and mobilizing members for ministry and outreach.
• Sharing in church government and ministry leadership.
• Equipping members to serve through teaching and encouragement.
• Demonstrating the love and justice of Jesus Christ.

Geneva’s elders are nominated by other church members, and once elected by the congregation, serve a three-year term. Each elder oversees an organizational area, or commission, of the church. This area of responsibility is listed with the name of each elder and their contact information. Elders are appointed to serve the membership.
